Welcome to Jigsawland

Jigsawland is a website for puzzle lovers of all ages. We specialize in graphical puzzles. You start with a distorted image and aim to move the pieces into the right order. You can decide how many pieces you want to use and how distorted the picture is when you start. The more pieces and the more distorted the picture is, the harder it is going to be to restore it. If you choose large pieces it can be easy to to solve the puzzle. These puzzles are suitable for children. If you choose small pieces and a very distorted picture then it is going to be challenging for anyone to restore the image. An easy puzzle can be solved in minutes. A hard puzzle might keep you occupied for hours. All our puzzles are based on beautiful, family-friendly pictures.

Children’s puzzles

Below you can see a few examples on the puzzles we feature that are suitable for children.  All our puzzles can be played on easy difficulty and are family friendly but the puzzles below are chosen because they feature cartoons and lovely cute animals such as parrots, making them ideal for children. The default setting for these puzzles is easy.

Puzzles for adults

Below you can find examples of puzzles that are suitable for teenagers and adults.  All the puzzles featured below feature a few more challenging pictures and are using an intermediate difficulty setting by default.  The difficulty can be lowered or increased as desired.

Advanced puzzles

The puzzles below are for people who are looking for a real challenge. They use pictures that are abstract and hard to picture in your head. They also use a larger grid and is shuffled a lot to make it harder to solve them.  Please note that the shuffle is random and the difficulty level can therefore vary between different games.  Please click to reshuffle the pieces if you are not happy with the challenge level you got.

Any puzzle that are developed by us is available on our website but can only be accessed if you know the link to the puzzle.  They are not accessible through the normal navigation on our website.  It is up to you to decide whether you want to keep the URL to your puzzle private or if you want to link to it publicly so that the puzzle becomes available to the public.  The puzzle will be available through google and the the search function on our site if (and only if) you choose to link to the puzzles from a publicly available web page.

Examples of puzzles we have made in the past include:

  • Binaryoptions.net asked us to provide a puzzle for them that they used in a theme-building exercise at a company meet-up.  Everyone got a chance to solve the puzzles, and the people who did it the fastest won fun prizes.   This was a fun project to work with, and we were told that it was a big success at the meet-up. Everyone wanted to win the prizes.  (Mostly for the bragging rights).  Binaryoptions.net is a website that provides a trading guide for anyone who wants to trade with binary options and CFD certificates.  Their goal is to help their visitors to get off on the right foot.  Binary options and CFD trading are high-risk, and there are many traps that can cost a beginner trader a lot of money. They will help you navigate around these traps and help you start earning money from day one.  Visit their website if you want to learn more.
  • Another website that has chosen to use our service and get a custom puzzle made is the Swedish casino website vinnare.se.  They asked us for a puzzle that they could use at PR events.  They wanted a puzzle that was colourful and fun and that captured the excitement of playing slot machines.   This was a challenge, but with a little bit of trial and error, we were able to create a game that was fun and that slot players really liked.  Vinnare. se used the puzzle at PR events and gave away bonus free spins in real online casinos to everyone who was able to solve the puzzle in less than 1 minute. This competition has been a big success and has helped vinnare.se refer a lot of new players to different online casinos.

Puzzles can help you attract new business and help team building if used in the right way.  Contact us today to learn more about what we can do for your business.  We will be happy to work with you.

History of Jigsaw puzzles

The history of jigsaw puzzles dates back to the 18th century in Europe. The first puzzles were not interlocking pieces as we know them today; rather, they were maps mounted on wood and then cut into pieces using a marquetry saw. Around 1760, John Spilsbury, an English cartographer and engraver, is credited with creating the first jigsaw puzzle by attaching a world map to wood and cutting out each country. He intended these puzzles to be used as educational tools to teach geography.

By the 19th century, with the advent of new cutting techniques and technologies, puzzles became more intricate and started to include diverse subjects, not just maps. They grew popular as an entertaining activity for both children and adults. Advances in printing and the invention of cardboard led to more affordable production and a broader reach.

In the 20th century, puzzles became especially popular during the Great Depression as an inexpensive form of entertainment that could be enjoyed multiple times. Furthermore, puzzles with large piece counts provided a welcome and challenging diversion for families.
